Our Projects

What we're
working on

We work on a range of events to help advance the research, development and deployment of Plural technology across our ecosystem.

BridgingBot

BridgingBot is an LLM-powered social media moderator developed by Plurality Institute to foster healthier, more constructive online dialogue. Our work includes a randomized controlled trial of the bot as well as the full open-sourcing of its code and methods. BridgingBot was created with support from partners including Harvard University, UC Berkeley, Jigsaw, Google.org, and others.

LLM Map

The LLM Map is a collaboratively built landscape of current and emerging tools that use large language models to strengthen public discourse. Launched at our February 2025 LLM Workshop, it highlights more than 70 tools organized across key functional dimensions. The accompanying report was developed in partnership with the Prosocial Design Network, the Council on Technology and Social Cohesion, and additional contributors.

OpenBallot

OpenBallot is a simple app that lets voters instantly see and compare recommendations from trusted guides, friends, and local experts for every item on their ballot. By bringing everything into one clear view, it cuts through confusion, and helps voters make confident, well-informed decisions.

R&D Grants

In conjunction with our workshops, we award micro-grants to spark new research and accelerate the development of plural technologies. These grants are designed to quickly resource early prototypes, collaborations, and experimental ideas emerging in this growing field.
